What is pet chiropractic services?
Pets have a brain and spinal cord encased by a skull and vertebral column with nerves that exit the spine at every level. These nerves control functions of the body including muscle, organ and immune function. When a bone is misaligned, the information carried by the nerve exiting at that level can get interfered with or disrupted and not communicate properly. Chiropractors call this a "subluxation". If the nerve is carrying information to an organ like the heart, your pet may experience cardiovascular issues. If the nerve is going to a skeletal muscle, your pet may experience muscle weakness.
Using a neurological examination, static and motion palpation, along with a thorough history, a veterinary chiropractioner will be able to identify precisely where a subluxation occurs. Once located, a subluxation is corrected using a high velocity low amplitude thrust into the joint. This can be achieved using hands or can be assisted using an adjusting tool.
